Is This Your Problem - Unwanted Drainage Smells?
Is it coming from a ventilation pipe?
Ventilation pipes are an essential part of your drainage system and, without them, problems due to siphoning and unbalanced pressures can easily occur. Unfortunately, the benefits they provide come with an undesirable side effect i.e. the sewer gases they vent into the atmosphere can find their way back to your garden patio or pool area. These gases are not harmful but they can be very unpleasant and embarrassing.
Pooh, no wonder they're called Stink Pipes!
Here's our Solution - the STUDOR® MAXI-FILTRA™
This well-proven product is an Activated Carbon filter designed to eliminate bad odours produced by the drainage system. Easily fitted to your existing vent pipe, its replaceable filter cartridge allows the system to "breathe" but prevents the Sulphides that create the odours from reaching the atmosphere.
How does it work?
The activated carbon in the filter cartridge has been impregnated with chemicals that attract particular contaminates by a process known as "Adsorbtion". (no that's not a typo) When odour molecules come into contact with its surface they dissolve and become trapped i.e. Adsorbed. Meanwhile, other components of the sewer gas, such as Methane and Carbon Dioxide, are not adsorbed. The filter is, in effect, transparent to them and they can pass right through to be safely vented to atmosphere.
MAXI-FILTRA™ Features

Aluminium Cover
The optional Aluminium Cover provides additional protection to the Maxi-Filtra . It provides insulation against extreme temperatures (-20°C to +60°C) and protection from animals, birds and the environment, i.e. severe inclement weather or constant exposure to the sun's ultra-violet rays. Unlike the ABS plastic of the filter itself, the Aluminium Cover can also be painted to blend in with the background in situations where an aesthetic appearance is important.
Where the MAXI-FILTRA™ goes

MAXI-FILTRA™ is fitted to the vent pipe that should be present on the output side of the septic tank (fosse-septique).
The locations of tank vent pipes vary. They are often routed underground, back to the house or to some other nearby object for support. When fitted with the filter, height becomes less important and the pipe may therefore be lowered to facilitate cartridge replacement.
The diagram shows a primary vent fitted with an
Air Admittance Valve. The AAV is a one-way valve that only allows air INTO the pipework to balance pressure during the discharge of appliances. With an AAV fitted to the primary intake there is only one exit for displaced air and the sewer gasses in the tank i.e. via the carbon filter. Please note that venting arrangements can vary widely and an AAV can cause problems if fitted in the wrong circumstances. It is advisable to consult a professional if you are unsure about the ventilation of your particular system.
