The STUDOR® MAXI-VENT™ Air Admittance Valve |

 |
The STUDOR® MAXI-VENT™ Air Admittance Valve (AAV) can be used for venting stack systems in buildings up to 10 storeys high. In domestic situations it completely eliminates the requirement for vent piping through the roof allowing termination of the vent pipe below roof level. It improves the performance of the drainage system and prevents odorous gases from reaching the atmosphere. It is EN12380 A1 rated which means that, when fitted with the optional Aluminium Cover, it has a tested minimum operating temperature range of -20C to +60C which makes it suitable for outdoor use. |
|
UK Approval Status
Although the current BBA Approval Certificate does not specifically mention external use, many Building Control Officers agree that the certified operating temperature range of the Studor Maxi-Vent makes it suitable for outdoor use and have passed it for external use on that basis. Please consult with your local Inspector before ordering. |

In situations like the one shown in the diagram, where there is a primary vented soil stack, as well as a septic tank vent, the MAXI-VENT™ can be used in conjunction with the MAXI-FILTRA™ to even greater effect.
When an appliance is discharged, a negative pressure is created within the stack. This pressure needs to be neutralised in order to prevent trap siphoning. The MAXI-VENT™ air admittance valve senses the negative pressure and opens its membrane to allow air in, to equalise the pressure. As soon as the pressure returns to zero the valve closes again, preventing the escape of odourous gases from the otherwise open stack vent.
The one-way action of the MAXI-VENT™ thus ensures that ventilation of the tank can only occur via the MAXI-FILTRA™ - proper ventilation without smells! |

ALUMINIUM COVER (required for External Use)
The Aluminium Cover provides additional protection to the Maxi-Filtra and is mandatory for external installations of the MAXI-VENT. The cover and its polystyrene lining provide insulation against extreme temperatures (-20°C to +60°C) and protection from animals, birds and the environment, i.e. severe inclement weather or constant exposure to the sun's ultra-violet rays. Unlike the ABS plastic of the filter itself, the Aluminium Cover can also be painted to blend in with the background in situations where an aesthetic appearance is important. |
