Air Admittance Valves

Air admittance valves (AAVs) are pressure-activated, one-way mechanical vents, used in a plumbing system to eliminate the need for conventional pipe venting and roof penetrations.

A discharge of wastewater causes the AAV to open, releasing the vacuum and allowing air to enter the plumbing vent pipe for proper drainage.

Otherwise, the valve remains closed, preventing the escape of sewer gas and maintaining the trap seals.

Using AAVs can significantly reduce the amount of venting materials needed in a plumbing system, allow greater flexibility in the layout of plumbing fixtures, and reduce long-term roof maintenance problems associated with conventional vent stack roofing penetrations.

• Are designed to allow the free entry of air into the sanitary pipework system without the escape of foul air into the building.
• When installed into pipework systems conforming to BS EN 12056:2000, FloPlast AAVs prevent the loss of water from trap seals due to induced siphonage.

Certification and Standards:

• Kitemark licensed in accordance with BS EN 12380:2002 licence number KM 512474
