Installing the STUDOR® MAXI-FILTRA™

There is only one size of MAXI-FILTRA™ which is easily adapted to fit all common pipe sizes (see details below).

With the MAXI-FILTRA™ installed the height of the vent pipe becomes less important and higher pipes can therefore be lowered to facilitate filter cartridge replacement.

The filter is normally installed in a vertical plane but can also be installed horizontally. This can be useful in cases where a vent pipe has been fitted very close to a supporting wall.
remove lid INSTALLATION N.B. The MAXI-FILTRA™ should only be installed on External vent pipes.

Step 1.
Remove all packaging. N.B. The filter cartridge can be found packed inside the Maxi-FILTRA™ body.

Step 2.
Take off the lid by holding the filter body in one hand and pulling the very edge of the lid with the fingertips of the other hand.
Peel off label Step 3.
Remove the filter cartridge from its vacuum sealed pack, unpeel the date label and stick it on the outside of the lid. Mark the month/year boxes as appropriate to provide a reminder of the installation date.
Replace lid Step 4.
Install the cartridge in the filter body, Black-side Up, Yellow-side Down.

Step 5.
Replace the lid.
Check DN number Step 6. Adapting to your pipe size
The easiest way to determine pipe size is to read the lettering printed vertically on the pipe. The "DN" number will tell you what the External Diameter is. If this is not possible use a ruler, taking care to avoid parallax error.
110mm pipe 110mm
The standard soil pipe size in the UK is 110mm. The Maxi-FILTRA™ is designed to push-fit directly into this size of pipe (with the help of some soapy water). No adaptation is required.

This picture shows the MAXI-FILTRA™ push-fitted into a transparent 110mm pipe.
The Maxi-Filtra is fitted to your existing vent pipe 100mm
The picture left shows the most common installation in France where the standard size for soil pipes is 100mm. The pipe has a female/female joint (AKA "manchon-a-butee") glued on to it. The open end of the joint provides a 103mm receptacle for the Maxi-FILTRA™ to push into. Such joints are available from most DIY outlets and cost circa 3 euros. Use the correct uPVC glue and make sure there is a good airtight seal. N.B. it may be easier to fit the MAXI-FILTRA™ into the joint first, and then glue the combined assembly on to the vent pipe afterwards.
Click a button to select the external diameter of your vent pipe.
A separate window will open to show you how to install the Maxi-FILTRA™.
